P7M Manager

A .p7m file opened in one click, no cloud and no account.

P7M Manager opens the CMS/PKCS#7 envelopes that Italian invoices, PEC attachments and signed contracts use to wrap a document in one or more digital signatures: it says what's inside, who signed it, when, and with which certificate, and hands back the original document — PDF, XML or otherwise — identified from its content, not its file name.

It checks what can honestly be checked — that the document matches the digest the signature covers and, for RSA, that the signature came from the enclosed certificate — without ever passing that off as a legal validation: ECDSA and RSA-PSS signatures are reported as unverified rather than guessed at. A single file or a whole folder go into the same multi-threaded queue, with a details panel and a CSV or JSON report for the run.

It runs entirely offline, with no OpenSSL and no external dependencies for the reading engine — just the standard library. Distributed for Windows, macOS and Linux, in English and Italian, under the AGPL v3 license, with a commercial license available for closed-product use.

  • Reads CMS/PKCS#7 envelopes in DER or BER, including base64 or PEM-armoured ones as some PEC providers deliver them
  • Shows the signer, certificate, algorithms and RFC 3161 timestamp of every signature, including counter-signatures
  • Checks the document's integrity and, for RSA, the signature against the enclosed certificate
  • Extracts the document by recognizing its content and restoring the right extension (fattura.xml.p7m → fattura.xml)
  • Processes a file or a whole folder in a queue, across several threads, with a CSV or JSON report
  • Includes a command line covering the same engine, for scheduled tasks
